I worked with Poltroon Press to publish a special edition of Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon. Illustrated with scene-setting B&W photographs of Falcon locations from San Francisco, it includes a new introduction by Randal S. Brandt—Curator of the California Detective Fiction Collection at the Bancroft Library—a “mapback” pinpointing crime scenes in downtown San Francisco and a coda of two linked Sam Spade short stories written by me to answer the question, “What happened to the falcon!?
In addition to writing the short stories, I also took the photos, including several at 891 Post Street #401, Sam Spade’s (and Hammett’s) apartment.
